It is said that 80% of job openings are not advertised. This infamous hidden job market is, according to some, the place which job hunters need to be scouting.
For many people, however, this is not necessarily an easy undertaking. Unless you have an extensive contact network and endless amounts of time to spend socializing at happy hours, volunteering, and communicating with assorted business associations, the hidden job market remains relatively inaccessible. There is no doubt that some people are successful when they invite all their contacts to a happy-hour event organized expressly for the purpose of getting a job referral. Good for them! Just stick to traditional methods – they work! All you need is an organized, intelligent, and focused approach.
We’ll talk more about this in a coming article.
