The international organization for the standardization of card payments, EMVCo, has published the technical framework for its new payment tokenization specification.
EMVCo says that this specification will allow industry participants to develop tokenization solutions that are interoperable and compatible with the existing infrastructure for EMV card payment systems.
Tokenization is a measure contributing to the security of card data, and consists of replacing sensitive card data with a non-sensitive equivalent (token).
